Plaza De Armas

When in Santiago, find your way to Plaza De Armas. A great and picturesque square, cultural center, the location of the Cathedral, and, maybe very important to visitors, the main post office of Chile.

Inside the lovely colonial main post office. Compared to other places, where sending a package is a long and arduous process, here it was fast and efficient. I said my thing in Spanish, and was quickly shunted to an English speaking older clerk who was so quick that I was surprised when it was done. I said, anything else, and he said, no, thank you, all finished, with a smile. Every bit as expeditious as in the US. To me, a delightful experience.

All around are signs and you can't miss getting there

Here as in the US, mounted police is considered more people-friendly and effective in areas like this.

Large shopping arcades for anything from precious jewelry to souvenir trinkets are open for business

There are photographers and their props and portrait painters

and chessplayers in deep thought
