Plaza De Armas
When in Santiago, find your way to Plaza De Armas. A great and picturesque square, cultural center, the location of the Cathedral, and, maybe very important to visitors, the main post office of Chile. |
Inside the lovely colonial main post office. Compared to other places, where sending a package is a long and arduous process, here it was fast and efficient. I said my thing in Spanish, and was quickly shunted to an English speaking older clerk who was so quick that I was surprised when it was done. I said, anything else, and he said, no, thank you, all finished, with a smile. Every bit as expeditious as in the US. To me, a delightful experience. |
All around are signs and you can't miss getting there |
Here as in the US, mounted police is considered more people-friendly and effective in areas like this. |
Large shopping arcades for anything from precious jewelry to souvenir trinkets are open for business |
There are photographers and their props and portrait painters |
and chessplayers in deep thought |
